Tests....Tests.... and more Tests

Yuck I know. This week seems like the week of tests. Tuesday we reviewed for our science test which we took yesterday. Today we take our first math benchmark, and I can't wait to see how we do. In math we are wrapping up our first multiplication unit, and about to enter the world of double digit by double multiplication. Science we are about to enter sound, light, and electric energy. Social studies we are finishing our regions projects. I can't wait till we present them!

What an extraordinary week!

Week of October 5,2009

Homework- Last week's homework from from Mrs. Johnson's class included: Spelling Packets which had several worksheets about skills on spelling the 20 words we get assigned to take a weekly test on. The homework also consisted of a reading log. You have to read at least twenty minutes every night. In Mr. D's class we received Objective Fun #5. The first few days of the week were "Homework Free" because of the fact that the math homework came out in gibberish. The computer had a big glitch so the homework didn't get printed out right.

During Class- If you are in Mrs. Johnson's homeroom class you'd know that we listened to an audio recording of Mrs. Hutchens' voice with pictures. The video was about Texas, its regions, and their landforms. According to the video Texas' regions are the Great Plains, the Coastal Plains (our region), the North-central plains, and the Mountains and Basins. We were given booklets containing a few pages with drawings of the different regions. We had to color them in. We did some labs in Mr. Dulworth's class. Both classes would know to we did D.P.E., journal writing, and target reading in Mrs. Johnson's class. In Mr. D's class we also had number tiles and TEKS Target Practice. We had 2 substitute teachers. In Mrs. Johnson's class we had Mrs. Hammock and in Mr. Dulworth's room we had Mr. W. We ended the week with a "Fun Friday"! We did a cool dance called the Cupid Shuffle! What an extraordinary week! By: Simon Petrik

Multiple Intelligence

Today was so fun! We had math stations and in one station students took a multiple intelligence test. It was interesting to see the results and how the kids reacted to it. We worked on mulitplication in small groups and also explored conduction, convection, and radiation in math. In social studies we began our region group project! Can't wait for Fun Friday!

Flashcard Quiz.....yikes!

Well, I returned to school today happy to receive a good report from my sub!! Nothing makes me happier! In class, we had tech lab where students measured their current height for a future activity. During that time we took the dreaded flash card quiz! There was no social studies or science today due to tech lab, but we did get to cover two digit by one digit multiplicaiton during math time. Nothing like multiplication to brighten your day!

A Day in The Life of a Top Dog

Mrs. Johnson's classroom......
Today in Mrs. Johnson's classroom we learned about how to put three actions in our stories instead of telling the story by itself. We also rotated centers. We played games on the computers and we did independent reading where we could go any where in the room! We did anchor station which was a reading passage and we went to the back table with Mrs. Johnson and read "Mystery in the Moonlight". It was a fantastic book!!
We had an awesome time in Mrs. Johnson's classroom.
Mr. Dulworth's classroom...........
In Mr. Dulworth's classroom we did usual math tiles, then we did text (or teats) charter practice and skip counted by 2's, 3's, 4's, 5's and we are our 6's. When we got back from lunch our mystery reader was Mrs. Mountain. Thank you Mrs. Mountain for coming to read to us. Then we did math centers. At the yellow table there were Vocabulary Cards then at the blue table we played Math Blaster on the computer. Then we went to the back with Mr. Dulworth and did fun math problems! At the green table we did an assignment about missing factors and at the Black Table we worked with learning palettes. We had a fantastic time in Mr. Dulworth's class!!
