Water DOES cause erosion!!
Today was an active day! We had Tech lab where students worked on their explorer Glog. Students had to research an explorer and then begin building a Glog that represented that explorer. In science, students had to create their own lab to prove that water was one way to cause erosion!

The North Pole at Galatas
The holiday break was fun, but it was also fun last week coming back to school to see all of our friends and teachers. The weather was freezing, as the temperture was a low of 26 degrees. Everyone was wearing 3 or even 5 layers of clothing, including the teachers. In the beginning of Mrs. Johnson`s class, we did the usual, our journals then our paragraph editing. Mrs. Johnson shared that her family went to see their grandmother and the power went out because it was so cold. It was fun listening to Mrs. Johnson's story. In Mr.Dulworth`s class, we all shared what we did over the break. Mr.Dulworth went to Fort Worth, Texas. It was really exciting and fun. Lucas also went to Fort Worth to visit family. Mike, the LSU Tiger, went with Kyle to Buffalo, NY and Tampa, Florida for the Outback Bowl. Kyle brought back pictures to share with the class.
After just returning from the break, we had a math benchmark test. We didn't have homework this week so we could prepare. A couple days later, on Thursday, everybody was going crazy because of the Alabama and Texas National Championship game. Soon it was Friday and everybody was wild about the game. Some people were sad that Colt McCoy, quarterback of Texas, got hurt. It was a heartbreaker. Some people were happy because Alabama won.
In Mrs. Johnson`s class we had a couple of tests. We also practiced for our reading benchmark, that was the next week. Finally, it was time to leave school for the week. It was a fun week at the North Pole. BRRRR!!

Can you break a rock?
Monday, Monday......such and active day. We finished bar graphs today and talked about how rocks can be weathered. We started with a two day lab which we will finish tomorrow to show how ice can weather a rock. In social studies, we finished up a few assignments and are looking forward to debating conflicts in early Texas tomorrow.

Two Terrific Days
On Monday we started off with our usual warm ups and skip counting. Then we went on to social studies. We worked on our Indian projects. We got to choose between a poster, a song, a story,
or three stamps. In science we are learning about force. This particular lab had to deal with a toy car, a white board, and three science books. Can you guess what we did? We were measuring distance on different surfaces. We measured how far the car would go on the tile in the science lab, the tile in the hallways, and the carpet in the activity room. The surface that made the car go the farthest was the tile in the science room because it was smooth and had nothing to stop it like cracks. The surface that made the car go the least farthest was the carpet because it had more friction.
Tuesday was packed! In read-aloud we finished our book, The Maze of Bones. We also had our mystery reader Mrs. Petrik who we would like to thank for bringing treats for each class in honor of Simon and Oliver's birthday. In science we made catapults. We measured distance and accuracy. And then of course, we had our recycled car race! The winner for 46 was Caroline, and the winner for 45 and the over all winner was Caitlyn. Great job to everyone who participated! The cars looked awesome!
Happy Holidays,

As you all know it was Breadens last day here as a greyhound. We miss him very much!Thank you Mrs. Dulworth for reading The Two Bobs. It also had a website. Fantastic. We also went to Mrs. Centannis. She taught us about bullies and how to deal with them. It was fun. We also learned division with blocks. Our neighbors were our partners. And we were so excited to finish our video. Tests....Tests.... and more Tests
Yuck I know. This week seems like the week of tests. Tuesday we reviewed for our science test which we took yesterday. Today we take our first math benchmark, and I can't wait to see how we do. In math we are wrapping up our first multiplication unit, and about to enter the world of double digit by double multiplication. Science we are about to enter sound, light, and electric energy. Social studies we are finishing our regions projects. I can't wait till we present them!
